Marie Lemoine Peony

Introduced in 1869, this richly fragrant heirloom variety is widely regarded as one of the handsomest peonies. Very large, lemon-white double flowers are strongly suffused with yellow from hidden stamens and staminodes when they open. They then change to pure white. Flat at first, the 6½" blooms develop into large balls. Glossy, deep green leaves are quite attractive during the growing season.
